THIS UPDATE JUST RECEIVED FROM MARY BATES, NALC DISASTER RESPONSE COORDINATOR:
Update, April 4, 2019:
We are restocking the warehouse, however, I just learned that the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Indian Reservations on the border of Nebraska and South Dakota are completely flooded by the Platte River and no one has been helping. Pastor Jeff Cottingham of Trinity, Gothenburg, NE asked if there was any help available — if you would like to help send emergency relief supplies, gift cards and monetary donations are welcome. Send your donations to NALC Disaster Warehouse, 810 Main St., Caldwell, Ohio 43724 or call Mary Bates, NALC Disaster Response coordinator at 740-509-1132!
CHECK YOUR CALENDAR FOR B.O.B. AND VBS SUMMER PROGRAM – This summer we are going to try something new for VBS. The past 2 summers we have had a B.O.B. (Better Off Believing) summer camp for K-5th graders. This summer we are going to combine the VBS with B.O.B. summer camp. The “VBS/Summer” camp will meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays in June and July with VBS from 10-12:30 and camp from 12-2:30. VBS will be for 2y/o thru 5th graders and B.O.B. camp will be for K thru 5th. The VBS morning will include Bible studies, crafts, games and lunch. The B.O.B. camp will have lunch, outings and other activities. We will need volunteers to help with VBS and preparing lunch for the kids. We realized it was hard for people to commit for a full week so thought it may be easier to help out two days a month. You can sign up to help all 4 days or for 1 day. For VBS only we will be looking for Bible study, crafts, and game leader/leaders. All materials will be provided. Check your calendar and watch for the sign up sheets.
MILES FOR SMILES In a couple weeks, I will be running in the Christie Clinic half marathon and I joined the miles for smiles team to help raise money for the Crisis Nursery. The Crisis Nursery creates an “Island of Safety” dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect by providing 24-hour emergency care for children and support to strengthen families in crisis. Running has become a passion of mine and the Crisis Nursery is an organization near and dear to my heart, so this is an awesome opportunity for me to do something I love while raising money for an organization that is deeply deserving of the help! If you would all pray for me in this endeavor, I would greatly appreciate it. If you are able and feel called to give here is the link to do so: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/crisis-nursery1/melissahunsinger
Thank you for prayerfully considering a donation!
