B.O.B.’S EASTER DINNER The B.O.B. kids have planned and are preparing a dinner for their families on April 10 at 5:30. We would like to invite you to their dinner before the Lent service that night. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex so you will be included in our planning. We need numbers by March 27 to plan how much food to prepare. Looking forward to you joining us.
EASTER SUNDAY IS APRIL 21. We will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, and our resurrection in Him. Thank you to Rich Gegg for coordinating the Easter breakfast this year. There is a sign-up sheet out in the narthex. Please contact Rich at 217-621-4288 if you have any questions or would like to help!
THE WEDNESDAY EVENING LENTEN OFFERINGS will be divided between the NALC Disaster Response and the local C-U at Home program. The NALC Disaster Response program is one way we can help in all the natural disasters that happen in the US. Because of all the storms etc. since last fall, the warehouse is empty. The C-U at Home program assists homeless people in the Champaign-Urbana area. It is a great program to help those without an address to have a safe environment, and to get help so that their lives can be improved and turned around. Thank you for your generosity toward these two needs.
OUR NATION AND WORLD have been hit by a number of natural disasters. Here are some organizations who are responding to the disasters, and ways you can help:
To help after Cyclone Idai: Please visit watermission.org/2019cyclone to join us in our disaster relief efforts, and then share the opportunity with your loved ones. 100% of your gift will help those in dire need.
For domestic disaster relief: Contact Mary Bates, NALC Disaster Response coordinator, for more information as to how you can help at disasterresponse@thenalc.org or 740-509-1132. Regular updates are being posted at thenalc.org. Donations may be given online or sent to: NALC Disaster Response; 2299 Palmer Dr., Suite 220; New Brighton, MN 55112.
THIS UPDATE JUST RECEIVED FROM MARY BATES, NALC DISASTER RESPONSE COORDINATOR:
Update, April 4, 2019:
We are restocking the warehouse, however, I just learned that the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Indian Reservations on the border of Nebraska and South Dakota are completely flooded by the Platte River and no one has been helping. Pastor Jeff Cottingham of Trinity, Gothenburg, NE asked if there was any help available — if you would like to help send emergency relief supplies, gift cards and monetary donations are welcome. Send your donations to NALC Disaster Warehouse, 810 Main St., Caldwell, Ohio 43724 or call Mary Bates, NALC Disaster Response coordinator at 740-509-1132!
CHECK YOUR CALENDAR FOR B.O.B. AND VBS SUMMER PROGRAM – This summer we are going to try something new for VBS. The past 2 summers we have had a B.O.B. (Better Off Believing) summer camp for K-5th graders. This summer we are going to combine the VBS with B.O.B. summer camp. The “VBS/Summer” camp will meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays in June and July with VBS from 10-12:30 and camp from 12-2:30. VBS will be for 2y/o thru 5th graders and B.O.B. camp will be for K thru 5th. The VBS morning will include bible studies, crafts, games and lunch. The B.O.B. camp will have lunch, outings and other activities. We will need volunteers to help with VBS and preparing lunch for the kids. We realized it was hard for people to commit for a full week so thought it may be easier to help out two days a month. You can sign up to help all 4 days or for 1 day. For VBS only we will be looking for Bible study, crafts, and game leader/leaders. All materials will be provided. Check your calendar and watch for the sign up sheets.
LENT IS HERE. We will have Lenten services at 7:00 on Wednesday evenings. This year we will again participate in a Lenten round robin with other NALC pastors in the area. Our theme will be hymns of Lent, hymns of justification. Lenten dinners each Wednesday before Lenten service. Here is a list of those who are organizing and hosting the Lenten suppers. April 10 – B.O.B. kids (dinner will start at 5:30)
A special thank you to all those who have offered to help! And, plan to come to the Lenten services, they are truly a blessing!
THERE IS A SYMPATHY CARD FOR PASTOR DONNA SMITH on the table in the narthex. Please take time to sign it and feel free to include a sentiment. May the Lord comfort and strengthen Donna as she grieves the loss of Larry.

We plan to post events of the congregation and community on the calendar, so check it out. Thanks, Ben, for the wonderful addition!
