Announcements for the week of Nov. 4, 2018

THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONGREGATION will be next Sunday, November 11, 2018, following the worship service. Just a reminder that voting members of the congregation are confirmed members who have communed and made a financial contribution of record during the current or preceding calendar year. Members of this congregation who have satisfied these basic standards shall have the privilege of voice and vote at every regular and special meeting of the congregation. Printed copies of the proposed 2019 budget are available in the narthex.

FRIENDS BAGS ARE READY FOR PICK UP The B.O.B. kids have finished filling the Friends Bags and can be picked up in the Narthex. The bags are for you to keep in your car and when you see a homeless person or hitchhiker that is asking for money for food you give them a bag of snacks instead of money. Please take only 2 bags at a time so everyone that wants some will be able to get them. These friends bags may also come in handy this winter if you would become stranded.
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:40

EMPTY TOMB Are you looking for some place to volunteer and help people in need? Empty Tomb is looking for volunteers in many areas of ministry, such as sorting clothes, sorting food, delivering furniture, being a friend to a family who needs a friend. If you would like to volunteer, contact empty tomb at 356-2262, or contact Pastor Oman for more detail in volunteer activities. This is an excellent way to share the blessings of Christ with others.

THRIVENT As we pray for those who have been affected by Hurricane Florence and Michael, Thrivent – a membership organization of Christians – is mobilizing its financial resources and members to help those in need. Thrivent members and others who want to help with the recovery efforts are encouraged to visit Thrivent.com to learn more about our organization’s commitment to match individual personal donations and other ways in which people can help.

HOSTING SOME GOOD IDEAS? Our church is seeking a few hosts or hostesses to lend your skills. We have been fortunate enough to enjoy various activities and social events over the past few years many coordinated by the Fellowship Committee. And this committee might just be the place for you to continue and create new fellowship gathering during the coming year. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Oman or Lisa Schwarzentraub. A planning meeting will be scheduled later this year to plan for 2019.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – B.O.B. Youth group is packing shoeboxes for Christmas again this year. We are collecting items for these gifts and also shoeboxes. See the flier enclosed in the bulletin for information on items needed. Gently used, clean toys can be donated. Last year we were able to pack 50 shoeboxes with items donated. The shoeboxes will be packed on Nov 14 and will be taken to drop off location later that week so we need to have the items brought to the church by Nov 11.

JARS FOR B.O.B. The BOB youth are in need of a few pint-size glass jars for luminaries they will be making. If you have any old glass pint size jars that you would like to donate that would help us out. Please leave them by the table in the narthex. We need them by Nov 14. Thanks

THANK YOU TO BETTY SABATO for donating the brass altar book stand. It will hold the altar liturgy book for ease of use and is a welcome addition to the chancel. The brass altar book stand is given in memory of Ken Roth. Thank you Betty for your thoughtful remembrance of Ken.

LINCOLN TRAIL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY ON NOVEMBER 9, 2018. The students and staff at Lincoln Trail Elementary School will host their annual Veterans Day Assembly on November 9, 2018. We would like to show our appreciation to the veterans and active duty personnel who have made, and are making sacrifices for our country. The assembly will include music performed by the students as well as recognition of veterans and active duty personnel in attendance. Join us at 9:15 in our cafeteria to enjoy coffee and cookies with fellow veterans. The ceremony will begin at 10:15 in the Lincoln Trail Gymnasium. Please join us for this special tribute to our veterans!

TODAY IS ALL SAINTS SUNDAY, when we remember our loved-ones who have gone to be with the Lord. As part of the service we will be lighting candles in memory of our loved-ones. As we grieve and miss our loved ones, let us remember that our grief is tempered by the assurance of the resurrection to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Let us always rejoice in the gift of eternal life we have in Jesus!
