Teams or individuals will be able to order T-shirts in their choice of color for $10 each. Orders will be placed on Oct. 1. The date for the Walk for Water is October 13 and will be held at the Lake of the Woods.

FRIENDS BAGS ARE READY FOR PICK UP The B.O.B. kids have finished filling the Friends Bags and can be picked up in the Narthex. The bags are for you to keep in your car and when you see a homeless person or hitchhiker that is asking for money for food you give them a bag of snacks instead of money. Please take only 2 bags at a time so everyone that wants some will be able to get them. These friends bags may also come in handy this winter if you would become stranded.
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:40

SUNDAY SCHOOL STARTS TODAY! Plan on attending! There are classes for all ages, and the study is integrated so that all ages are studying the same Biblical topic. EMPTY TOMB Are you looking for some place to volunteer and help people in need? Empty Tomb is looking for volunteers in many areas of ministry, such as sorting clothes, sorting food, delivering furniture, being a friend to a family who needs a friend. If you would like to volunteer, contact empty tomb at 356-2262, or contact Pastor Oman for more detail in volunteer activities. This is an excellent way to share the blessings of Christ with others.

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIPS Another way to volunteer is through a new ministry starting with University of Illinois international students, the ministry is called International Friendships. It is a ministry designed to be a friend with international students, and to share Christ’s love through friendship. The ministry started on the Ohio State University campus and is expanding to the University of Illinois. See Pastor Oman for details.

THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONGREGATION will be Sunday, November 11, 2018, following the worship service. Just a reminder that voting members of the congregation are confirmed members who have communed and made a financial contribution of record during the current or preceding calendar year. Members of this congregation who have satisfied these basic standards shall have the privilege of voice and vote at every regular and special meeting of the congregation.

THRIVENT As we pray for those who have been affected by Hurricane Florence, Thrivent – a membership organization of Christians – is mobilizing its financial resources and members to help those in need. Thrivent members and others who want to help with the recovery efforts are encouraged to visit Thrivent.com to learn more about our organization’s commitment to match individual personal donations and other ways in which people can help.

VOLUNTEERS Our worship service volunteers are always appreciated and we are always looking for more people to help during the services. If you are interested in helping out, please prayfully consider how you would like to help and fill out a volunteer sign-up sheet out in the narthex and put it on the desk in the office for Melissa. Thank you!

HOSTING SOME GOOD IDEAS? Our church is seeking a few hosts or hostesses to lend your skills. We have been fortunate enough to enjoy various activities and social events over the past few years many coordinated by the Fellowship Committee. And this committee might just be the place for you to continue and create new fellowship gathering during the coming year. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Oman or Lisa Schwarzentraub. A planning meeting will be scheduled later this year to plan for 2019.

GRIEF SUPPORT There will be a grief support group meeting September 5 through November 14, 6:00-7:00 p.m., at the Mahomet United Methodist Church. Babysitting is provided. Pam Parker will facilitate the group time of sharing, listening, and support.
