THE NALC CONVOCATION will be held this week in Denver, CO. Rachel Busch Jones is our delegate. Please pray for the NALC and the convocation that we will hear and follow the leading of the Lord. Pray also for safe travels for all of the participants in the convocation.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES WITH SOCIAL OUTREACH COMMITTEE –
CANDLEWOOD LUNCHES Thank you to all who organized and helped serve the Candlewood meals this past week, especially to Marilyn Feigl and Richey Vanderspool for organizing and purchasing the food. Many people had good nutritious food, and good fellowship this past week. The churches of Mahomet are a blessing to those who received the meals. We are looking for someone to coordinate the lunches for a week next year, prayfully consider how you can help.

MAHOMET MUSIC FESTIVAL The Mahomet Music Festival will be on Aug 25 this summer. We are planning to have a booth with the focus on the Walk for Water again this year. Last year there was a lot of interest shown by people at the festival. This gives us a good opportunity to share the importance of clean water throughout the world. Watch for further information about this outreach opportunity.

WALK FOR WATER – The date for the Walk for Water has been changed to October 13 and will be held at the Lake of the Woods. There is a $10 registration fee per adult and $5 for 5-12Y/O. We are offering team T-shirts this year. Each team will have the opportunity to order T-shirts thru the church in your choice of color at $10 each. More information will be coming for registration and ordering shirts.

SUMMER MOVIE AND COOK OUT – Rally Sunday is coming on Sept 9. We will have movies for adults and kids after a congregational cook out. There will be a movie for adults in the Lifetree room and for kids in the Youth room. Social Outreach Committee invites you to bring family and friends to this celebration kick off to the church year. There will be cards for you to send or hand out to family and friends with the information. Let’s make this a grand celebration.

ROOTS OF OUR FAITH We will be starting a Roots of our Faith class in September. If you would like to learn more about the Lutheran Church or are interested in joining our congregation or would like a refresher course in the Lutheran perspective of the Christian faith, please let pastor Oman know.
