CONCERT AT ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH  Another concert will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Royal at 6:00 on Sunday, August 27, (doors open at 5:00) with national recording artists Down East Boys from Reidsville, NC.  This quartet has been performing for over 30 years and is currently on the Dove Awards for Album and Song of the Year.  Group members: Ricky Carden, Daryl Paschal, Rick Walls, and Doug Pittman; have a goal to share the gospel of Jesus to all the world.  There will be no tickets for this concert—only a love offering.  For more information contact Les Schluter at 841-3132.

REGISTER NOW FOR WALK FOR WATER  The link to register for The Walk For Water is now finished and can be accessed thru the email newsletter or on our website.  Talk to your friends and family, workplace or organizations, sports teams about having a team and think about sponsors that you can talk to for your team or yourself. The registration fee is adults – $10, youth – $5 and children free.  There is also the opportunity to order tee shirts for $10, orders must be in by Sept 16. Our Walk for Water is Oct 7.  Visit our booth at the Sangamon River Festival on Aug 26 to see what the water treatment systems look like and to get information about Water Mission organization. HELP WANTED  Pr. Brian Romanowski is requesting help with the Christian music band who will be at the Riverfest this year.  He writes:  I will need a few folks to help with the Christian music, including setup of the merchandise area Friday afternoon, load in & load out on Saturday, merchandise sales during the event, tear down of the merchandise area early Sunday morning and possibly a mini van/SVU and driver to pick up and drop off the three members of the group with their equipment.

If you can help with part of the need, please contact Pr. Oman and Pr. Romanowski.

PARADE FLOAT  SOC is looking for someone with a pick-up truck or tractor and trailer that would like to be our float in the Sangamon River Music Festival on August 26.  If this is something you can help with contact Cheryl Heinold.

 HOW TO COPE WITH GRIEF EXPLORED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ  Strategies for finding peace after a loss will be discussed at Lifetree Café on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 12:30 p.m. at NBLC. The program, titled “Coping with Grief: Find Your Path to Peace,” features a filmed interview with Ken Doka, a grief counselor and author of more than 20 books, including Grieving Beyond Gender: Understanding the Ways Men and Woman Mourn “It’s a common misunderstanding that grief follows a fairly predictable pattern,” says Doka. “But each of us has our own pathway; each of us takes our own journey as we grieve.” During the program, Lifetree Café participants will have the opportunity to discuss self-care strategies they’ve used during times of grief.

ATTENDANCE for Sunday, August 6 was 79 and total offering was $6,639.00.
