BLESSED FATHER’S DAY! On this day we pause to give thanks to God for the blessings our fathers have been to us. As we have opportunity, let us give thanks to our fathers, and if they have passed, let us give thanks for the ways they have been a blessing in our lives. And let us give thanks to God that He is the perfect Father Who loves and cares for us in all ways, surpassing the love of earthly fathers.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Greeters, Ushers, Scripture Readers, Communion Assistants and Offering Counters needed for June, July and August. Please sign up in the Narthex.

ANNUAL NALC CONVOCATION The annual Convocation of the North American Lutheran Church will be August 9 – 11 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel, Nashville, TN. We are allowed one voting delegate to the Convocation. This is an excellent opportunity to hear of many of the activities of the NALC and to participate in the NALC on a national level. It is an inspiring opportunity to hear of the Lord’s work through the NALC. If you are interested in being a delegate please contact Pastor Oman.

PARKING LOT UPDATE The parking lot was completed on Thursday the 8th of June. Central Paving of Weldon completed the job very efficiently and professionally. All of the spaces are a foot wider than required to reduce door dings. Three handicapped spaces are conveniently located on the south side of the lot, close to the west entry door. Our contractor paved the area where the tree stump was located on the west side of the lot and striped the parking spots on Dunbar and Central at no additional cost. Special contributions from the congregation were about $18,000 and covered about 60% of the cost. Contributions are still being accepted for the project. Please make out a separate check for the project and note that it is for the parking lot.

SANGAMON RIVER MUSIC FESTIVAL The festival is August 26 this summer. We would like to have a booth and float as part of the celebration again this year with the focus being on the Walk for Water on October 7. Watch for more information and sign-up sheets to be part of our outreach activity.

IMPERFECT PARENTS EXPLORED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ The challenges and rewards of parenting will be explored at Lifetree Café on Wednesday, June 21 at 12:30 pm at NBLC. The program, titled “Imperfect Parents: Making Peace and Moving On,” features a screening of And What Remains, an award-winning short film.“We’ve all learned lessons from our parents that have shaped who we are,” says Lifetree representative Craig Cable. “This program is dedicated to unpacking how those lessons have changed us for good or for bad.” During the program, Lifetree Café participants will have the opportunity to discuss how the forces that shaped their parent’s lives have impacted their own.
