Announcements for Week of June 4

SUMMER DAY CAMP NBLC will be having a summer day camp this summer on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays in June and July from 10 am to 1 pm. This is for Kindergarten thru 4th graders. We will have a different theme for each session- nature, science, healthy eating, and water with Bible studies, activities and lunch/picnic to go along with each theme. More information and registration is on the church website. There is a $20 fee to cover lunches and outings. This is due on the first day of camp. We are limiting the camp to 15 campers.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Greeters, Ushers, Scripture Readers, Communion Assistants and Offering Counters needed for June, July and August. Please sign up in the Narthex.

ANNUAL NALC CONVOCATION The annual Convocation of the North American Lutheran Church will be August 9 – 11 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel, Nashville, TN. We are allowed one voting delegate to the Convocation. This is an excellent opportunity to hear of many of the activities of the NALC and to participate in the NALC on a national level. It is an inspiring opportunity to hear of the Lord’s work through the NALC. If you are interested in being a delegate please contact Pastor Oman.

UPDATE TO PARKING LOT FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN Next Sunday when you come to church……we should have a new parking lot! The date for the resurfacing is this Friday, June 9 unless weather interferes. The parking spots should be all painted and the three handicapped spaces will be on the south end of the parking lot. We also plan to get parking spots marked on the south and west streets. The donations to the parking lot project are $15,800, just over half the total cost. You can still designate your gifts to the project. Just mark “Parking Lot” on the memo line of your check. A square foot of asphalt is $2 and a parking place equivalent is $750. ****Parking lot checks should be separate checks from general fund checks- two checks, not one check for both funds. Thank you.

THE CHURCH AND GAYS DISCUSSED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ The church’s stance regarding same-sex attraction will be explored at Lifetree Café on Wednesday, June 8 at the NBLC café. The program, titled “The Church and Gays: One Pastor’s Dilemma,” features a filmed interview with Danny Cortez, a pastor whose changing views regarding same-sex attraction led to his being removed from his denomination. During the interview, Cortez explains how the church’s traditional response to same-sex attraction never gave him a sense of peace. “I remember thinking about Jesus and the way he gave life, and I started thinking maybe the church is wrong,” Cortez says. “Maybe the traditional interpretation of this issue is wrong. I remember thinking maybe I don’t believe what I grew up believing.” Lifetree participants will have the opportunity to share their views and stories of their encounters with the church regarding the issue.
MEN’S BRUNCH The Men’s brunch will be on June 5th, at 11:00 a.m., at the Mahomet Family Restaurant. It is a great time of fellowship! Plan to attend!

QUARTERLY GIVING STATEMENTS are in the basket in the narthex.

ATTENDANCE for Sunday, May 28 was 71 and total offering was $2,906.00.
