Prayers of the People – May 14, 2017
Dear God, in the quiet of our prayers and in the comfort of Your love, we come for help. We come for wholeness; we come for forgiveness. With joyful confidence, we approach our Lord’s throne of grace to pray on behalf of the Church, the world, and all people according to their needs.
Father, you are worthy of all glory, honor and praise. We praise you for raising your Son from death. The glorious miracle of His resurrection opens the doors to heaven and eternal life for all who believe. It gives peace for today and hope for tomorrow. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Dear God, remind the rulers of all nations that you alone are King of the nations. Humble them; and teach them to use the authority and power you have granted. Open their hearts to receive your Word. Give them the wisdom in decision making. Please let them strive to do what is right and not follow what maybe the ways of the world, rather than what you guide and instruct in the Holy Scriptures. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Father, like Saint Stephen, there are many around the world who answered the call to serve you but are persecuted, tortured, and martyred because they proclaim you as Lord and God. Give them the strength that you gave Stephen: to fearlessly speak your truth in love, that your enemies may repent and be saved. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Dear God, You care tenderly for your people, especially the littlest who are laid in your arms. We therefore ask your blessing upon all mothers and those who act with a mother’s love. Give them your own patience, steadfastness, tenderness and wisdom. Share your deep gentleness and strong love as they care for their children. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Father, we pray for those who are graduating high schools, colleges, universities and other places of learning. Grant that they may use what they have learned for the well-being of their neighbors. Be present with those who will enlist in military service and those who are currently serving their country. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Dear God, we pray for all those who are sick and injured. Bring healing to those who have had surgery, treatments and continue to undergo various forms of therapy. Heal and restore them; give them faith in your goodness, and hope for their future, which is held safely in your sheltering arms. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Father, we give thanks for those who are at home with the Lord. Comfort the families & friends of those who now reside in your heavenly mansion. When you choose, bring us into the bliss of eternal union with our loved ones; and with all the people whom you have chosen, called, made your own, and redeemed; and with you, our Light and our Life. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Dear God, our Father, into your hands, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your risen Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
