Prayers of the People for Week of April 16

Prayers of the People – April 16, 2017

Through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ that has created all things new; we are able to come together with thanksgiving. At this time, we join together in a moment of silence to center our thoughts and prepare our hearts for prayer.

Risen Lord, open our ears, eyes, and hearts to the message proclaimed to the women on the morning of the resurrection: take away our fears, open the eyes of faith to see and the ears of faith to hear that Jesus is risen, then send us to go and tell the Good News. Lord, in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, doubts linger, even among disciples that Your resurrection is an idle tale, and the church is but a mausoleum to Your memory. Awaken us to see that You are here. Be with all of our family members and draw them more closely to You, especially those who are struggling with doubts and questions. Reveal Jesus to them again today so that they will walk in faith and in the joy of this day. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, keep our nation and all churches in Your constant care. Provide protection and steadfastness, especially to Christians in Egypt and throughout the Middle East suffering abuse and persecution. Give Your wisdom to all whom You have been called to lead and protect. Strengthen the members of our armed forces and provide comfort while they are away from home on this joyous day. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, You walked the dusty roads of Judea healing those who had no hope of wholeness and health. We ask that same compassion for those who suffer now in mind, body or spirit. Many we name in our hearts and others aloud . May all these people and their friends and family trust in Your good will, healing, and hope for a future undimmed by pain, suffering, or loss. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, with reverence and affection, we entrust our beloved dead into Your unfailing care. Comfort the family of Olivia as they face the loss of their daughter. We are reminded that Jesus took the little children up in His arms and blessed them, and that in His grace Jesus has Olivia in His loving arms forever. Wipe away the tears of those whose grief runs deep. We trust that in the Day when You return to make all things new there will be no more grief, crying or pain, that You, Father, will wipe all tears from our eyes. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, in the coming week, help us to stand fast in the truth of what You have sacrificed and given to us. May we speak Your name boldly. We lift these prayers with Hallelujah, in the name of the risen Christ Your glorious and holy son. And all in this place say, Amen
