Announcements for Week of April 9

HOLY WEEK BEGINS TODAY Holy Week begins today with the Palm/Passion Sunday service. During this week we walk with Jesus on the way to the cross, and then celebrate the resurrection on Sunday! It is customary to have extra opportunities for worship during Holy Week. This year we will have the Maundy Thursday Communion service at 7:00 p.m. The Good Friday Tenebrae service will also be at 7:00 p.m. An Easter Vigil will be at Prince on Peace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Easter Sunday services will be at 7:00 and 10:00, with the Easter breakfast at 8:00 and an Easter egg hunt at 9:00. Plan to come!

CANDY NEEDED FOR EGG HUNT AT CANDLEWOOD Last year we hosted our first egg hunt and shared the Good News of Christ with over 50 kids. We are hoping to reach more this year. If you would like to donate candy, please place it in the tub in the narthex by April 12. We would love for many members of our church family to be involved. Please let Bobbie Schnitkey know if you are interested, 898-0358.

PARKING LOT PAVING The Property Committee has recommended that the parking lot be resurfaced this summer at a bid of $30,910, with an authorization of up to $5,000 more for unexpected expenses, total of $35,910, working with Central Paving of Weldon. The congregation must approve this expenditure, so a SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017, following the worship service, to authorize this expense. If the approval is made to resurface the parking lot, a fund-raising campaign will begin on April 23. Targeted contributions will be: to donate a parking space for $750, to donate half a parking space for $375, or whatever someone may want to give toward the resurfacing. The contribution is a donation toward the parking lot, not buying a reserved space. Contributions will be received after April 23, pending congregational approval to resurface the parking lot at the April 23, 2017 special meeting of the congregation.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR EASTER BREAKFAST Easter Sunday is next Sunday. The mission trip group is sponsoring the Easter breakfast as a fund-raiser for the trip to Grafton, WV in July. Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex to help set up, serve, provide food, and/or cleanup after the breakfast. Even if you aren’t able to go on the mission trip, you can help sponsor those who can and we can all be a blessing to those in Grafton, WV. Thank you.

MOVIE AND LUNCH DATE SIGN UP SHEET The sign-up sheet for the Movie and Lunch date is in the narthex. Please sign up if you will be joining us so we know how many to plan lunch for. Lunch will be a pasta bar with different pastas, sauces, meats, vegetables and garlic bread.

WALK TO JERUSALEM We have made it to Prague and have about 1,750 miles to go to get to Jerusalem. Our last luncheon for our Walk to Jerusalem will also be on April 30 when we watch the movie “Risen”. Thanks to everyone that is participating in our walk. You are doing great job and helping yourself to a healthy lifestyle!

THE IMPACT OF SMILING EXPLORED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ The infectious power of a smile will be discussed at Lifetree Café on Thursday, April 13 at 12:30 p.m. The program, titled “Smile Awhile: An Hour of Happy,” explores the mental and physical benefits of smiling and features a screening of the short film The Honey and Bears. “When facing everyday pressures, including work, finances, and even the current political scene, it’s easy to lose track of what makes you happy,” says Lifetree representative Craig Cable. “This program is dedicated to giving people an hour-long reprieve while also bringing a smile to their faces.” During the program, participants will have the opportunity to discuss times in life they have felt genuinely happy.

ATTENDANCE for Sunday, April 2 was 73 and total offering was $8,197.
