DREW McCOWEN IN AFGHANISTAN Carol Tempel’s brother Drew is deployed for his 5th tour. SOC decided to make a “care” package for him. We will be collecting things to send him and his unit. Carol Tempel gave some ideas to send to her brother: Mike & Ike candy, Good & Plenty, Gummy Lifesavers, coffee (K-cups or instant), individual powdered drink packets for water bottles, gum, chapstick, baby wipes or disposable/flushable wipes (small pkgs), small books such as puzzle books. No chocolate items. Homemade cookies are always appreciated by the troops. Please place items on the table in the narthex. Last day will be Mar 26 so we can mail the package by the end of March.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE CENTRAL ILLINOIS I recently saw this article in the Mahomet Citizen and wanted to share it with all of you. ITAV is a non-profit organization that provides clothing and household items for people in Central Illinois. It is located at Rusk Storage on Lake of the Woods Road and is open for weekly giveaways on Thursdays from 12 to 4 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to noon. They also accept donations during these times. The only contact I found was PO Box 245, Mahomet or http://www.facebook.com/groups/ITAVIL. I looked at the Facebook page and there wasn’t any further information. I will visit their location and get more information for our congregation about donations and giveaways. SOC – Cheryl Heinold
