Setup for the dinner will be Saturday, Dec. 10 starting at 8 a.m.

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE OF HOPE The holy days of Advent and Christmas are often a time of joy and celebration as we rejoice that Jesus is born, and as family and friends gather. But, at times, these days are not as joyful as we hope; perhaps you, or someone you know, are experiencing the loss of a loved-one, or facing health concerns, or missing family, or just “blue” with the short days and long nights. We will be offering a Blue Christmas Service of Hope to help through these difficult times on Tuesday, December 20th, at 7:00 p.m. Come and be surrounded by the love of the Lord, bring someone who is having a difficult time in life, or come and support those who are struggling with life.

SERVICE OF LESSONS AND CAROLS On Sunday January 1, 2017, the First Sunday after Christmas, we will again have a service of Lessons and Carols. Please sign up for one of the readings on the list in the narthex.

FROM HEAVEN ABOVE: ADVENT WEEKLY WORSHIP SERIES-SERVICE TWO We join with the people of God in welcoming the steadfast love of God revealed to us in his beloved Son. Let the words, Scripture verses, hymns, litanies and prayers of this worship experience remind us of the Gift of Love we get to “unwrap” through the birth of Jesus and the privilege we have of sharing that great love with others.

PRACTICAL HELP FOR OVERCOMING WORRY GIVEN AT LIFETREE CAFÉ Practical suggestions for dealing with worry will be offered at Lifetree Café on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 12:30 pm at the Candlewood Pool House. The program, titled, “Overcoming Worry: Practical Help, Simple Solutions,” features a filmed interview with Cheryl Eresman, a clinical counselor, as well as a screening of the short film God Box. “Anxiety can actually cause health problems,” Eresman says. “Worry can cause blood pressure problems, lower your immunity to disease, and result in ulcers. It can actually physically hurt you.” During the program, participants will explore coping mechanisms that help fight anxiety.

MAHOMET HELPING HANDS will again be giving Christmas gifts to children in our community who are in need. There are ornaments available if you would like to help this year. Each ornament has a child listed by age and gender. Please buy a gift, or a gift card, and return them to NBLC by Sunday, December 11th. Thank you!

ADVENT/CHRISTMAS This year the Advent series is entitled: “From Heaven Above”, and we will be worshiping around the themes of: The Gift of Hope; The Gift of Love; The Gift of Peace; and the Gift of Life. Advent will continue each Wednesday evening through December 21. The worship service will be at 6:30, with a potluck meal at 5:30. Bring a dish to pass and join us. The Advent offering for this year will be designated to the local Helping Hands ministry, which helps people who don’t have adequate food resources in our community, and to the Mahomet Ministerial Association for use in the transient fund.

ATTENDANCE for Sunday, November 27th was 73 and total offering was $2,182.
