Prayers of the People- Week of Nov. 13

As we gather at this time for prayer, we seek renewal for our age throughout the church, the world, and all of creation. In doing so, let us pause to center our minds and lift our prayers to our God who was and is and will be.

God who made all things good, you create us to be caretakers and stewards in your creation. You equip us to provide for the people, places and ministries that you have entrusted to our care. Draw us together, all people of New Beginnings Church to recognize your call to be more deeply in relationship with you and the world. Regardless of our age, background or abilities, guide us to serve you daily to until our last day. Bless every church, everywhere, that through the work each may do, all may know your grace and love one another. Lord in Your Mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who are struggling with the aftermath of the election on Tuesday. We pray for comfort and peace for troubled hearts. We pray against civil unrest and violence. We pray for a spirit of reconciliation to fall upon our land so we can heal and find a way to move forward from here. Help us to put aside our differences; be patient, understanding, compassionate and kind with each other. Help us to be respectful of each other in all things even when we don’t agree. We pray for hope and positive changes to spread not just in the U.S. but around the world as well. You are a God of miracles and mercy and you aren’t done working yet. Lord in Your Mercy, hear our prayer.

God who provides, you endow us with all we need to nurture, harvest and share the fruits of creation. In this abundance, direct our eyes and feet to our neighbors who are on the margins, both near and far. Give us curiosity and courage to live into the fullness of our communities. Lord in Your Mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who are persecuted on account of naming Jesus as Lord. Guide them and provide them with Your word of truth and forgiveness, so that their tormentors may repent and be saved. Lord in Your Mercy, hear our prayer.

God who protects, we give you thanks for the men and women who have served and defended our country and the values of freedom and justice we hold so dear. Help us be mindful of the sacrifices they made and the hardship endured by their families and friends, so that we never take for granted the privileges they have secured for us. Lord in Your Mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for guidance to see all who are afflicted with pain, suffering, or sorrow of mind, body and soul, known and unknown. We pray that you will strengthen their bodies, take away their fears or grief, and give them your peace. Bless all who care for them with kindness and skill. Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.

God who was and is and will be, we seek your presence as we prepare for the coming week. Let us be ever mindful of Who holds our future in His hands, so we can be confident that at the right time He will return. Let us walk in faith, knowing that Jesus is faithful to keep us in His grace today, tomorrow, and forever. Amen.
