Prayers of the People- Week of Oct. 30

Celebrating the Reformation that changed the face of Christianity, we seek renewal for our age throughout the church, the world, and all of creation. In doing so, let us pause to center our minds and lift our prayers to you.

Lord, help us to see your power and goodness in mountain heights and sea depths, in rushing rivers and tangled woodlands, and in every corner of creation. You have once more brought the year full circle, through planting and growing and ripening to harvest time, and autumn. Involve us in the loving care of creation for our children and their children. Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Lord, give us the energy and passion to resist war as a way of solving problems. Bring peace to areas of the world torn asunder by violence and bloodshed. Make yourself visible among those suffering atrocities around the globe, especially Syria and the unsettled Middle East. Shield and defend those who have answered the call to military service. Grant that at the conclusion of their work, they may return home safely to family and friends. Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Loving God, look upon those in authority among the nations of the world. may embrace and ever share in your universal work of liberation and reconciliation. May all the corners of the earth and each home and heart be moved by your authority, direction and wisdom so that everyone who is lost may be found, the outcast may be welcomed, and the proud may be humbled. As we get closer to our nations elections, guide us to prayer as we consider the upcoming election and chose to elect officials that will serve honestly and faithfully. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord, help us to see that true strength is in healing and compassion. Help us to participate in your world by reaching out even when we hurt. Bless those who struggle as we say their names now, aloud or within our hearts. We pray especially for those who have requested your care and strength, known and unknown. Hear their cries and spur us to respond as your hands and heart in the world. Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Lord, as believers and saints of all time gather around us and support us in our lives of faith, help us to see you in faces and lives of people past and present who inspire us to be your people. Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Lord, help us to realize, that if we keep Your commandments and live according to the inspirations of Your grace, we shall also reap a plentiful harvest in the autumn of our lifetime: a harvest that we will be able to enjoy forever. We place all our hopes and dreams into your arms surrounding us with love and care. In your holy trinity of father, son, and spirit, Amen
