Prayers of the People-week of September 4th

Prayers of the People
September 4, 2016

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus who has risen from the dead and ever lives to intercede for us at the right hand of the throne of God, and in His name let us pray together with all boldness and confidence in this truth beginning with a moment of silence to lift our personal petitions.

Help us to walk in your way, following your commandments as we live our earthly life. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Guide us as we study and share your gospel with others. Help us be good disciples, making time to reach out as well as to participate in studies, so that we may continue to learn. Give us strength to turn from the influence of others, so that we don’t imitate their ways. Help us not gossip, exclude others, or make them feel different from ourselves. Give us knowledge to know the way to walk in your path. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Give us rest from our labors that we may return to them with a new heart and mind. Let us do the best job we can in our professions no matter what they are, with your guidance. This labor day we especially pray for those in need of a job. Help them find work, so that they can provide for their families, and themselves. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Water is the very basis of life as we know it. Let us drink our water with thankfulness, conserve it with care, and demand that fresh water never become a commodity denied to those without enough money. We pray for the upcoming Walk for Water and seek your guidance in how each of us can support this effort. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

As we get closer to our nations elections, be with those of voting age. Help all citizens, elect officials that will serve honestly. That will lead our country, states and counties in their jurisdictions with you in mind. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Save us from being overwhelmed by illness and pain of mind, body or spirit. Please lift up all those named upon our hearts, on our church prayers list and loud, as well as their families remembering that Jesus is the Great Physician, who heals all that ails us until that day when there will be no more pain or tears. We thank you for the great cloud of witnesses that surrounds us. Gather us with all the saints around your throne on the last day. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Thank you for being there when we need you most, when we think we don’t need you, and even when we turn our backs on you. Your love is the one thing we can count on, deserved or not. We lift our prayers to you trusting your promise to hear us, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen
