OFFICE MANAGER POSITION Effective as of September 30th, Melissa will no longer be in the position of office manager. If there is anyone interested or you know anyone who may be interested please contact pastor Oman.

CHALLENGES OF LIVING A GRACE-FILLED LIFE DISCUSSED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ The potential impact of living out the Golden Rule will be explored at Lifetree Café on Wednesday at 7:00pm in the café and Thursday at 12:30pm in the Pool House at Candlewood. The program, titled “‘Give Me a Break!’ Living a Grace-Filled Life,” features conversations surrounding the giving and receiving of breaks in life. “Many have heard of the Golden Rule, of treating others as you want to be treated, but people rarely have a chance to pause and assess its potential impact,” said Lifetree Café national director Craig Cable. “This Lifetree program provides a unique opportunity for participants to discuss what role the Golden Rule plays in their everyday lives.” During the program, Lifetree participants will be given the opportunity to describe times they have both given and received undeserved breaks and to examine the aftereffects.

UPCOMING EVENTS WITH SOC August 27- Sangamon River Music Festival Parade and Booth. Social Outreach Committee is using the opportunity to make our community and surrounding area aware of the need for clean water supplies in third world countries. Our Walk for Water is being planned for September and we want to provide information and encourage participation by individuals or teams to not only raise money for this project but to increase awareness of this important need. Sign-up sheets will be in the narthex for both the River Festival as well as the Walk for Water.

A Mission trip is being planned for summer 2017. SOC will also have a bake sale during the River Festival to start raising money to help support members of our congregation that want to be part of this wonderful outreach opportunity. We will also have a sign-up sheet and packaging information required by the CCPHD in the narthex for baked items.
Help will be needed to prepare a “float” for the parade and be in the parade, set-up a booth and work in it, and help with the bake sale. These important outreach projects are an opportunity for everyone in our congregation to share of their time and talents to help others in need in our congregation, community and the world.

There is also a special event coming up in October for the congregation. Watch for more information in the future.

WEDNESDAY EVENING CHILDREN’S PROGRAM Our Wednesday evening children’s program will begin on September 14 from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. We will be sharing a bible study, activities, crafts and a snack with the kids from kindergarten thru 5th grade. Each month we will also have an outing that could include a service project, bowling, mini-golf or in-house movie. Anyone that would like to spend time with the kids in our church family is welcome to visit and help out.

ATTENDANCE for Sunday, August 14th was 69 and total offering was $2,839.00.
