Prayers of the People
July 10, 2016
A principal obligation and privilege of being a Christian is to pray regularly. We never pray alone, for whenever we pray we join the prayer of the entire Church on earth and in heaven. We pray for others, and we are strengthened by those who pray for us. Let us join together during this time of prayer adding our voices to the unceasing praise of all creation.
Loving and Gracious Father, we humbly come before you asking that you bend your ear to hear our prayers.. Grant us the power of the Holy Spirit to hear your Word and to let it dwell in our hearts and minds. Open our hearts and minds to Your teaching, and let us grow in every way into Christ, the Head of the church. Turn our hearts and minds to help those in need, as you help us in our needs. Let us be a blessing to others as You have first blessed us. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Loving and Gracious Father, we thank and praise You for loving us so much You would go to the cross for our redemption. Move us by Your love for us so that we love others as You first loved us. Guide each one of us to strengthen ties with neighbors, respect the laws that create a civil society, work for legislative reform where it is needed, and examine the shadow of bias, fear, and hatred that may be in our own speaking or acting. Let your love change all of our hearts to love You with all of our heart, strength, and mind, and our neighbors as ourselves. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Loving and Gracious Father, we thank and praise You that we are redeemed by grace through faith, and not by our works. Let our words and actions bring glory to You because You are the LORD, and let our words and actions be a blessing to those around us so that they will give You thanks for Your blessings shared through us. Even the seas, the rocks, and the trees are our neighbors. Increase the vitality and beauty of your whole creation, and move us to work for its health and well-being. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Loving and Gracious Father, guide and direct the nations of the world to be good neighbors one to another, and to reach across the human barriers that divide us. Inspire the leaders of the world to do justice, give mercy, and to walk humbly with you. May their actions further your plan and demonstrate respect for people and the land that you created. May all who serve our nation and around the world in pursuit of peace know that their Heavenly Father watches over them each day. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Loving and Gracious Father, do not be far off, but tend to those who are suffering in mind or body or may be lost for whatever reason or ailment. Hear their cries and spur us to respond as your hands and heart in the world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Loving and Gracious Father, until we acquire full possession of the inheritance Christ won for us, keep us united in faith and hope with all the saints who have gone before us. Let us lean on You, for when we are at our weakest Your strength is strongest. We praise you for all faithful witnesses, and ask that by grace Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Loving and Gracious Father, protect us as we leave this place and as we go about our business, work and leisure in the coming week. Be by our side as we openly share our Christian faith with humility and love. We lift our prayers to you, O God, trusting your promise to hear us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
