Prayers of the People
July 3, 2016
Please join me during this time of prayer to the one true God. May you feel his presence and take a moment to center your thoughts and lift up your personal petitions during a moment of silence.
Humbly we come before you, gracious LORD, asking that you bend your ear to hear our prayers. Grant us the power of the Holy Spirit to hear your Word and to let it dwell in our hearts and minds. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Inspire the leaders of the world to do justice, give mercy, and to walk humbly with you. May their actions further your plan and demonstrate respect for people and the land that you created. We thank you for the gift of freedom, and for those who have sacrificed and still offer themselves to lead, guide, and protect us. Help us all to be agents of your justice and peace, and may the blessings of liberty spread abroad to all nations. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Increase our resolve to be bold in our witness and fearless in our living according to Biblical standards. In a culture where so much is defined in terms of human desire instead of in terms of God’s will, we ask your presence. Give us strength, resolve, and perseverance now as we try to do your will here on earth. Help us to overcome threats, even when we become discouraged and can see the future only dimly. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Do not be far off, but tend to those who are suffering in mind or body or may be lost for whatever reason or ailment. Hear their cries and spur us to respond as your hands and heart in the world. This day, we lift up all those affected by the Bangladesh attack; those named upon our hearts and each person on our church prayer list. Help us to bear each other’s burden. Help us to be caring and loving to all people, our friends as well as our enemies. And help us to see each person that we encounter is your precious child. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Remain with those whose heart is broken and spirit mourns the passing of a loved one. Your grace is sufficient this day, this hour, moment by moment. Let us lean on You, for when we are at our weakest Your strength is strongest. May all those mourning pour out their grief to You and praise You that on one glorious day when all suffering is extinguished and love has conquered, we shall walk together again. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
Thank you for giving us the peace that surpasses all understanding. Guide us today and every day to live with open eyes to clearly see the directions you provide for eternal life. To You, and You alone, be all honor and glory forever and ever, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
