POLITICAL DIVISIONS EXPLORED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ Practical ways to unite a divided country will be explored at Lifetree Café on Wednesday at 7:00pm in the café and Thursday at 1:30pm in the Pool House at Candlewood. The program, titled “Can This Union Be Saved: A Marriage Counselor’s Advice for Our Divided Country,” features a filmed interview with Denny Howard, a marriage counselor who shares how the strategies employed to help estranged couples may work with those who have divergent political views. “I think what is really dividing our country, similar to in a marriage relationship, is people are really nearsighted in the way they see things. We aren’t looking for common ground or how we can connect.” During the program, participants will have the opportunity to share their political views while establishing common ground with people holding opposing views.

THE LENTEN OFFERING this year was designated to St. Elias Christian Church, an Arab-speaking congregation of the North American Lutheran Church in Chicago, for a computer and projector so that they can use Christian Arabic resources in their worship services; most of the members of St Elias speak Arabic. The congregational offering for Lent was $2,067 to help with their computer and projector project. The offering we gave will be a great blessing to that congregation as they worship the Lord!
