PREVENTING METH TRAGEDIES DISCUSSED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ:  Practical ways to prevent meth use will be offered at Lifetree Café on Wednesday at 7:00pm in the café and Thursday at 1:30pm in the Pool House at Candlewood. The program, titled “Meth: Stories of Horror and Hope,” features a filmed interview with Cindy Gray, a woman who lost a son due to methamphetamine use. “The minute my son tried it, that was the end,” Gray says. “He eventually had to go to using a needle to get that next high.” This Lifetree program also features a filmed interview with a young man who became addicted to meth but found hope and escaped his addiction.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: VBS will be July 18-21 from 6pm-8:15pm.  This year we are offering VBS for preschool thru adults.  There will be 4 nights of Christian movies for 3 age groups – preschool thru 2nd grade, 3rd thru 8th grade and high school thru adults.  Movies will include – Veggie tales, Luther, Facing the Giants, Evan Almighty and others.  There will be “movie type” snacks and drinks.  We will need a few volunteers to help with each school age group and facilitators for the high school/adult movies; and to make and check on the snacks for each group, and activities for the preschool thru 8th grade classes.  We hope everyone will be excited about our VBS this summer and plan to attend.  If you are available to help contact Cheryl Heinold.

BUNCO REBOOT – May Bunco was a “bust” so let’s put some life back in to the fun!  No experience is needed and friends/neighbors/man or woman are welcome.  Snacks will be provided with prizes to the lucky rollers.  Come Thursday, 6/2 beginning at 6:30 pm.  The more, the merrier.

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM AT CANDLEWOOD NBLC will once again be partnering with other local churches to provide nutritious lunches to residents at Candlewood during the summer break. The Social Outreach Committee will be seeking volunteers to help serve and clean up lunch during the week of June 20-24. Each day we will need at least 3 volunteers for a 2 hour commitment from 11am-1pm. Please watch for the sign-up sheet coming soon. Also, we will be looking for volunteers to bake cookies and brownies for lunch desserts. Please contact Marilyn Feigl if you have any questions or possible suggestions for lunch menu ideas.

RELAY FOR LIFE Thank you to Bobbie and Lauren Schnitkey and Marilyn Feigl for participating in the Relay for Life walk on May 7 as representatives from our church.  Also thank you to everyone that donated to the Relay for Life/American Cancer Society.  We collected $455 in donations.  Next year the Social Outreach Committee hopes to get information to our members earlier so more of you will have the opportunity to participate or donate.

OUTDOOR CHURCH BANNERS The SOC has looked at buying light post banners for the light posts around the parking lot. The banners are 2ft by 5ft and would dress up the church yard plus draw attention to the church. The banners cost about $90 each. If you would like to help purchase a banner please place a check in the offering plate designated “for banner”.  Everyone is invited to purchase a whole banner or a portion of one.

ATTENDANCE for Sunday, May 15th was 127 and total offering was $4,394.00.
