Announcements for May 16

todayScreen Shot 2016-05-18 at 8.57.24 AMBAPTISM Today we rejoice with Jaci Jean Jones, her parents Steve and Rachel Jones, and her grandparents and all of her family, as Jaci is Baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  In this sacrament the Lord is marking Jaci, as He has us, with the cross of Christ; we now belong to Him.  Let us pray for Jaci’s growth in faith, hope, and love in Christ, and let us also grow with her into Christ, the Head of the Church.  May the Lord’s blessings always be upon Jaci.

BAPTISMAL FONT We thank Dana and Andy Busch for the Baptismal font, which will be dedicated .  It will be a blessing to all who are Baptized into Christ at this font.  Today’s dedication of the font is extra special as Jaci is Dana and Andy’s granddaughter.  A wonderful blessing!

GRADUATING SENIORS Today we also celebrate with those who are graduating from high school, and with their parents.  Those affiliated with our congregation are: Matthew Cloud, Allyson Garrett, Sabrina Heinold, Erin Jessup, David Levine, Shannon Levine, Joey Magyar, Lauren Schnitkey, Becky Tollakson, and Emma Vallee.  May these young adults continue to grow in knowledge as they continue their education, and may they grow in the wisdom of the Lord, continuing to grow in every way into Christ.  May the Lord’s blessings be upon them today and always.

ONE FAMILY’S JOURNEY THROUGH A CHILD’S DIAGNOSIS OF AUTISM WILL BE EXAMINED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ on Wednesday at 7:00pm in the café and Thursday at 1:30pm in the Pool House at Candlewood. The program, titled “The Mystery of Autism: Understand. Support. Connect,” features a filmed interview with Patty Smith, a mother whose son Patrick was diagnosed with autism at an early age. “Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by a lack of social interaction, delayed communication, and a lot of social awkwardness,” Smith says. “People look at us funny sometimes, and they shake their heads. If they only knew just a little bit of Patrick’s story.” During the program, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their experiences with autism.

GIFT BOX FOR KEEGAN WISEHART IN AFGHANISTAN We will be packing the box to send to Afghanistan at the next SOC meeting on May 19.  If you still want to donate items to send the troops please bring them in before that date and leave in the box in the Narthex.

OUTDOOR CHURCH BANNERS The SOC has looked at buying light post banners for the light posts around the parking lot. The banners are 2ft by 5ft and would dress up the church yard plus draw attention to the church. The banners cost about $90 each. If you would like to help purchase a banner please place a check in the offering plate designated “for banner”.  Everyone is invited to purchase a whole banner or a portion of one.
