Prayers of the People — Feb 20, 2015

sunrise_12154cpnOn this second Sunday of Lent, may be draw together as a one body.  Indeed, let us join together to pray for the needs of the many, lift up the concerns in our hearts and feel the presence of the Almighty.

Gracious Father, in this world of constant distractions help us to stay focused on the things that truly matter – your Word, your love and your plan for each and every one of us. In this season of reflection, may the Holy Spirit enter our hearts to guide and support us, so that we may stand firm in the Lord, imitate the prophets and the saints, and speak God’s truth rather than what we think people want to hear. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Gracious Father, we pray for leaders in our communities, our nation and all the nations of the world. May your Spirit be in them as they carry out their duties; and may their decisions, words and actions further your plan and respect your children of every race and creed. Especially in this time leading up to national elections, guide us to elect honorable people who love your Word and will live it out in every way. As our citizenship is in heaven, we must also do your work here on earth, and we ask for your help and guidance. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Gracious Father, we ask your blessing upon your church universal and congregations large and small, that they may bring honor and glory to your Holy Name through faithful teaching and preaching, worship and song, service and sharing. Guide pastors, teachers and all servants in your church as they nurture your people and help them grow in knowledge, faith, trust and service. May we support this church, New Beginnings, through attendance, prayer, and involvement with each of it’s programs.  Lord, in your mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Gracious Father, we thank you for people who choose lives of service, especially members of our military, police officers, fire fighters and medical professionals. Be with them and their families as they serve our society, and may we follow their example in using our gifts to serve others. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Gracious Father, grant healing of body for the sick, comfort of the soul for the grieving, and bring peace to those whose minds race with worry or confusion. We lift up each person on our prayer list and name aloud those newly added.  We ask that you may bless each person and their loved ones to know that peace which passes all understanding, as they put their trust and hope in you. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Gracious Father, we thank you for your constant presence and assurance.  May we never cease to seek and listen to you for you have the answers and love us, no matter what.  Into your hands we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through Jesus Christ, your son, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Amen.
