Prayers of the People — February 7

Screen Shot 2016-02-06 at 10.53.08 AMLet us join together to pray for the needs of the many, lift up the concerns in our hearts and and feel the presence of the Almighty. We begin with a time of silence to center our hearts and minds to you, Father God.

Father God, we give you thanks and praise for the great love you have shown us through your Son Jesus. On the Mount of Transfiguration, our Lord was changed into his post-resurrection glory, and Moses and Elijah ministered to him to strengthen him for the ordeal that lay ahead. Through his suffering and death he made possible salvation for the whole world, such that all who believe in him do not perish, but have eternal life. Bless all who know this Good News with the strength and courage to share it with the world. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Father God, in the quiet of our prayers and in the comfort of Your love, we come for help. We come for wholeness; we come for forgiveness. As we prepare to move forward into another month of this new year, we thank you for all your mercy and goodness to us in the month which is drawing to a close. Guide us into your future with hope, and let the coming new year be a time of peace and healing for our nation, for all families, and for our world. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our Prayer.

Father God, satisfy the needs of those who are poor and hungry, victims of violence and abuse, and those who land is torn by war or natural disaster. Help us to not blame You for the sin in the world. There is much wickedness and You are not the cause. Help us to see that regardless the situation, You have sent hope in the message of salvation. We pray for the leaders of the nations of the world. Lead them and their people to work for peace. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Father God, we thank you for those who have answered calls of service that have led them away from time with family and friends. Watch over those tasked with keeping us safe, especially men and women of the armed forces, wherever they may be stationed in the world. May their homecomings be joyful. Keep all military families patient and hopeful. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our Prayer

Father God, we lift up to you all in need of your healing and calming touch. Grant healing of body for the sick, comfort of the soul for the grieving, and bring peace to those whose minds race with worry or confusion. We lift up each person on our prayer list and named in our hearts. We ask that you may bless each person and their loved ones to know that peace which passes all understanding, as they put their trust and hope in you. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Father in heaven, thank you for always being there to talk to and may we never cease to listen to you. Into your hands we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through Jesus Christ, your son, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Amen.
