Prayers of the People — January 3

download (1)Let us pray now in the Power of the Spirit for peace, joy, and healing in all the earth.

God most majestic, we praise you for your awesome creation; most of all we praise you for your Son Jesus Christ, your Word made flesh. Through him, all creation came into being, and in him we, your children, live and move and have our being.

Benevolent God, we pray for your the church at large, and for this your church here at New Beginnings. May the light of Christ shine upon us that we might be illumined by the Truth of your Son. Raise up wise and diligent pastors, and leaders that will speak the truth of the scriptures even when challenged by those who change the word to fit the ways of the world. May truth prevail and let all acknowledge that thy word is truth and that you oh God change not. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Holy God, we pray your mercy on us and on the whole human race. Where there is division among us, make us quick to act for reconciliation. Kindle our tongues to speak on behalf of those who have none to speak for them. Esp. we pray for children everywhere. Limber our bones to act for justice. Inspire us by your Spirit to discern your will in all that we do, so that our actions and words might be to your greater glory. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Merciful God, we pray today for those who suffer in any way.

Ageless and boundless God, we bless you for your saints. Inspire us through your Holy Spirit and by their example to ardent and devoted service toward your kingdom. Teach us to comfort. Teach us to console. Teach us to believe, even when believing is difficult. May we love and support each other not only in the good times but also when times are difficult. We pray that by our lives others might see your Truth and Grace reflected in all we do as we live our lives now and we look forward to the day when we will be truly in your presence in the heavenly home prepared for us.

Into your hands, Most Gracious Father, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting that through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Amen
