Prayers of the People — December 20, 2015

At the start of this Christmas season, let us all return to the studies of our faith, reading and hearing your word so that we may better understand it.

We ask that you cleanse us of our sins as we prepare for the birth of your Son. Let us receive him with joy and thanksgiving. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

You sent your Son to us to take away our sins. Help us live our lives in a good and Godly manner, showing that Jesus did not die in vain.

Father, we ask you to strengthen our families. May fathers and mothers remain true to each other and work together for the good of their household and for those that are under their care and keeping. We ask that all children including the unborn be protected. Be with those children that are placed in situations that are not safe or nurturing to their young souls. We thank you for all that work to help and protect children.

We ask that you help them discern the truth, so that they may do what is right for the children so that they may grow and achieve their full potential. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Thank you Father, for all that you have given us. Teach us to be more appreciative of the things we have and not dwell on the things we don’t. Grant us leaders that will work for peace and conduct themselves in a way that is pleasing to you.  Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who are hurting this day. At a time of the year when we celebrate the joys of Christmas, there are many who are living in a season of loss, those that are in need of healing, and those that are in need of your help to exist in trying circumstances. You know the hearts of your own and we ask that you give all that is needed especially peace, assurance and encouragement.

Please grant your healing presence to all for whom we pray. For those mentioned aloud in our prayers, those mentioned in our hearts, and for all who have no one to pray for them.
Amen
