Prayers of the People for November 22nd Service

dove_9665cLet us pray for the church and for all in need.

Almighty and everlasting God, You are worthy of praise and worship for all Your mighty acts of creation, for Your grace in preserving all You have made, and for redeeming sinners from sin and death through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

We give You thanks for Your Church, your Word, and Spirit, calling sinners to repentance and teaching our fearful hearts to believe. You have established Your Church through the blood of Christ, and we pray that you will keep her steadfast and faithful as we face the latter days before Christ returns in His glory. Bless those who proclaim the Gospel to us in your name, and who administer the Sacraments of life and worship according to your institution. We pray esp. for all Christians and esp. for all who are in harm’s way and being persecuted for their faith. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Keep us from fear, and grant us courage. Help us to stand up for truth and help us to remain steadfast in your word-esp. in these times when evil fills the hearts of those that are misguided, as they plan and carrying out terrible deeds in the name of their god. Please let this terror mentality be ended. May we as your children anticipate with joy Christ’s coming again and faithfully do His bidding so that the world will be ready to receive Him when He comes as Lord and Judge of all. Open the hearts of all who hear your word, or witness lives and actions of those who believe and even have gone to their deaths rather that renounce their steadfast faith. May your Holy Spirit speak to the hearts of all and bring them to faith in your son Jesus whom you sent to save. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Give to ours and to all the nations of the earth faithful leaders who will serve according to Your good pleasure to end war, restrain evil, promote virtue and ensure justice, that we may live our lives in all godliness, holiness and honesty. Bless those who protect and defend us, both near and far, including all members of the armed forces, police, firefighters, emergency medical personnel and disaster workers. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Comfort and sustain all who struggle with illness, who live with pain, who suffer the afflictions of body and mind, who suffer in any way. According to Your gracious will, grant to them healing and relief, give them patience in their afflictions and faith that your grace will be sufficient for all their need. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Deliver to us the riches and bounty of the earth and the grace to acknowledge them as your gifts and blessings. Make us mindful of the poor and those in need that we may use your gifts faithfully and for the relief of those who live in want. Open our hearts to the joy of giving, that we may return to you what is already yours, worshiping you with our lips and our lives and bringing to you the tithes and offerings of a grateful heart. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, in this day and age, children are being raised in many diverse surroundings. We pray for their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. We thank you for parents that love each other and their children. May there be a renewal of homes where children are lovingly disciplined and instructed in faith and righteousness. We pray that the family will once again be a nourishing and safe place for all… May there be leaders, teachers, instructors, and mentors that live and teach according to what is pleasing to you.

Preserve us, O Lord, now and in the day of trouble. May we never fail to call upon you and trust in your unfailing love. All these things and everything else for which we should ask, we pray through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
