COMMUNION: All are welcome to receive the Lord’s Body and Blood who are baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and believe that Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, is truly present in, with and under the forms of bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins, life & salvation.

The center section of each Communion tray has two types of glasses. There are glasses with white grape juice, and also glasses with a lesser amount of wine. Please feel free to take which ever will best meet your needs. The communion bread is gluten-free.

THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE will be next Sunday, November 22, at 6:00 p.m. at the MSHS. Plan to come and give thanks to God as a community!

WEDNESDAY 12:30 BIBLE STUDY has decided to study 1 Corinthians. All are invited to join the study. We always review, so come join us.

ADVENT WILL SOON BE HERE! This year the theme for our Wednesday evening Advent services is Hark the Glad Sound, and we will be hearing from the song of Zechariah, Mary, the angels and the Church. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex for various parts of the service. Please sign up and add to the Advent worship services. The services will be at 6:30 again this year.

WE WILL BE STARTING A ROOTS OF OUR FAITH CLASS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. We will begin a Roots of Our Faith class this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The Roots of Our Faith class is designed for those who are considering joining our congregation, and for those who want a refresher course in what we believe as Lutheran Christians. Please let Pastor Oman know if you are planning to attend so that enough materials are available.

INSIGHTS FOR MAKING MARRIAGES LAST will be revealed at Lifetree Café on Wednesday at 6:30 pm in our café and Thursday at 11:30 am in the Pool House at Candlewood.

The program, titled “Marriage Tips From a Divorce Coach: How to Have a Lasting Relationship,” features a filmed interview with Sue Brans, a relationship expert who helps couples determine if they should stay in unhappy marriages—or leave.

“Many couples find that things aren’t going the way they want, but they don’t know what to do about it,” says Brans, who offers practical insights on how to strengthen a troubled marriage.

WALK TO BETHLEHEM UPDATE: We are traveling thru Turkey on the last leg of our journey to Bethlehem. It’s hard to believe we have traveled 6,000 miles since the beginning of summer. We will be enjoying some Jewish foods on Nov 23 as we complete our walk to Bethlehem.

THANKSGIVING DINNER BAGS – The Lincoln Trail school Social Worker has identified 14 families that can use assistance with dinner this Thanksgiving. SOC will deliver dinner bags for these families again this year on Nov 23, the Monday before Thanksgiving, to the school to be picked up by the families. Look at the “Turkey Board” in the narthex and pick a leaf or two for donations of non-perishable food items. We are also getting vouchers at the IGA for the families to pick up a ham or turkey. The price of the vouchers are $10 each. If you would like provide a voucher put a check in the offering plate designated for SOC dinner voucher. We will be picking up the vouchers on the weekend before delivering the dinner bags. Please have your donations to the church by Sunday, Nov 22.

HEALTH KITS ARE BEING MADE FOR HELPING HANDS. These bags will be for men, women and children. There are lists for items needed in the kits on the bulletin board in the classroom hall. We have placed a flowered plastic bucket by the coat rack to place these items in. If you save grooming items from hotels when you travel these make perfect items for the kits.

THE FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE is sponsoring a Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, November 15, following the church service. The dinner will help raise funds to benefit the Helping Hands Ministry located here in Mahomet. A free will offering will be taken for the meal which will assist in filling their shelves with food for those in need. Spaghetti, meat balls, Italian sausage, salad, and bread will be served. We would like to bless this area ministry, especially as holiday time approaches, so your participation is encouraged.

THRIVENT “CHOICE” DOLLARS: New Beginnings Lutheran Church has received $956.00 from the Thrivent “Choice” dollars program for 2015 to date. These are dollars that are given to Thrivent members by Thrivent Financial. These are dollars that do not come from the member’s investments. They are dollars that Thrivent has given to their members to give to the individual’s choice of charities. We thank the members that have made this commitment to NBLC.

HELPING HANDS IS COLLECTING WINTER CLOTHING for needy people in our community. Please put items in the box in the narthex.

LIFETREE CAFÉ HAS BRANCHED OUT! Join us Thursdays at 11:30 am at our second location, in the Pool House at Candlewood Estates, 363 Randolph St. Our Wednesday evening café will continue also. We are looking for silk trees or large silk plants to add to the ambience of our new location. If you have a tree to donate or see a reasonably priced one at a garage sale please let Laura Magyar or Bobbie Schnitkey know.

2nd ANNUAL THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION! Join us on Thanksgiving Day at noon for an intergenerational Thanksgiving dinner and fellowship here at church. The purpose of this celebration is to provide an extended family to those that might not be with theirs on Thanksgiving. If you are interested, please let Bobbie Schnitkey, 898-0358, or sign up on the board in the Fellowship Hall.
