Prayer of the People — October 11, 2015

pray_6463cnpLet us pray for the church, the world and all people according to their needs.

Heavenly Father, we praise you, we adore you and we thank you that in making yourself known to us you give us life. For all souls who have not ask you to fill their hearts with your presence, may they take the step and invite you into their lives so that they can be forever changed. Your Spirit gives wisdom, peace, and strength. Thank you that we can come to you in prayer and know that you do hear our prayers. That you help us in all our trails and rejoice with us in our joys. You are truly faithful. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Help us behold the beauty of this season. We give thanks to you for our daily bread, as we offer thanks and prayers for the harvest and for those whom you have called to till the fields and harvest the crops. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Forgive us in your abundant mercy for failing to tend to the needs of the poor, the homeless, the hungry, the thirsty and those who suffer from injustice. Turn our hearts to you and to our neighbors in need. Strengthen those ministries in our congregations and national and international ministries such as Water Missions International, Bread for the World, Helping Hands, and for all that care for the most vulnerable. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Keep us from following the false idols that teach us that we must earn our salvation. Only in you, through your Son and with the help of the Holy Spirit, may we live and serve you in newness of life. Grant to all who are called to the ministry of Word and Sacrament, diligence in their preaching and teaching. Pour out your steadfast love upon all church leaders, all pastors, and ministry partners as they carry out the work of preaching Christ crucified.

Thank You for Pastor Oman. Please keep him, Kathe, and their family always in your loving care. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Anoint with your mercy all who cry out for healing of body, mind, or spirit. Grant patience, strength and grace to care givers. Give wisdom to medical professionals, that they may use the gifts you have given them for the benefit of those in their care. We especially pray for:

Be present among those who are near death, O Lord. Comfort the families of those who are grieving. May they know that our hope is made certain through the resurrection of our Lord. Make us instruments of your peace as we care for one another. Keep us together in the communion of saints until that day when, by your grace, we are reunited those who have preceded us in faith. We stand on your promises.

Into your hands we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
