Prayers of the People — August 30, 2015

prayerAs we welcome the changing of the seasons, may we be join together with prayers of thanksgiving to the one true God. May you feel his presence and take a moment to center your thoughts and lift up your personal petitions beginning with a moment of silence.

Heavenly Father, you are almighty and powerful, all knowing and loving. From your hands alone are new lives created on earth and in heaven. You teach us in your word that all who are in Christ have no reason to fear anyone or anything. Believing this, help us to set aside our fear of others and boldly share the good news of your saving grace with all who do not know Christ as Lord. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, you alone give peace which passes all human understanding. Grant that the leaders throughout the world might know that peace, and lead their countries in such a way that their people experience your peace. We pray for all those who serve this nation, especially those in the military. We especially pray for those serving as missionaries and Christians in danger throughout the world that their steadfast faith will be a shining beacon to us all. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, open our hearts to the people who are different from us. You sent your Son into this world for the sake of others. Help us to be like-minded as you in that we would think of others first and not get wrapped up in ourselves. Be with teachers and students as they begin a new season of learning. Help teachers make known to their students the knowledge they need and to be positive role models. Help the students to be engaged and willing to learn all the lessons they need for productive lives. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, bless the hearts of the sick, the injured, and most especially the dying, to know your presence in the midst of their trouble. Grant them healing, peace of mind and spirit, and a faith that looks to you for life. Especially today we pray for all those who are in need whose names are on our hearts and spoken aloud. May all these people and their families, whatever their needs, feel your presence and comfort. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, you have given us eternal life in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. We remember with thanksgiving all those who made known to us your love and grace, especially those most near and dear to us who now rest in your arms. In the last day gather us all around your eternal banquet table. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, be with all who are traveling on this upcoming Labor Day weekend. Keep them safe, and may their time away be one of rest and renewal. And as we go forth from this place, today and in the coming week, may we also experience renewal and confidence in your promises and direction. We lift up our selves and all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ; Amen.
