Announcements for July 26

fffWELCOME TO NEW BEGINNINGS LUTHERAN CHURCH: We are glad you are worshiping with us today!

PLEASE STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP: After worship you are invited to join us downstairs for refreshments and fellowship. An elevator is located at the end of the hall.

COMMUNION: All are welcome to receive the Lord’s Body and Blood who are baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and believe that Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, is truly present in, with and under the forms of bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins, life & salvation.

The center section of each Communion tray has two types of glasses. There are glasses with white grape juice, and also glasses with a lesser amount of wine. Please feel free to take which ever will best meet your needs. The communion bread is gluten-free.

SPECIAL EPISODE OF LIFETREE CAFÉ TODAY, JULY 26TH AT 11:30 AM: “When He Becomes She”, the filmed story of a man who is changing gender will be presented at Lifetree Café. The exclusive film follows a man named Bob, who says he knew at the age of 4 that he was really a girl in a boy’s body. The film examines issues surrounding transgenderism such as family dynamics, workplace complications, and spiritual implications. Lifetree Café spokesperson Craig Cable said, “This issue-transgenderism-raises all sorts of questions for people. Increasingly, our schools, workplaces, and faith communities are looking for answers. This Lifetree program provides some insight.”

THE IMPACT OF PRAYER ON PEOPLE’S EVERYDAY LIVES WILL BE EXPLORED AT LIFETREE CAFÉ ON WEDNESDAY AT 6:30 PM. The program, titled “How Does Prayer Work? Exploring the Mystery of Connecting With God,” features filmed interviews with Nathan Matz and Tosha Williams, two people who pray daily, but in very different ways.
“I originally thought prayer was about pleading to God like he was a genie in a bottle,” says Matz. “Prayer to me now is about trust. When I pray, sometimes I’m crying, sometimes I’m laughing, sometimes I’m screaming, and sometimes I’m angry. When I pray, I find God continuously pushing me into deeper waters.”
WE HAD ABOUT 30 KIDS ATTEND VBS THIS PAST WEEK AND WE ALL HAD GREAT FUN LEARNING ABOUT GOD’S LOVE FOR US. We learned that God’s love is greater than the 30,000,000,000,000,000,000 (thirty quintillion) gallons of water in the ocean. See our one quintillion and beach posters downstairs, and pictures from bible school on the fish net upstairs. We thank everyone that volunteered to help make this a special 3 days for the kids! Thank you to Cheryl Heinold for organizing VBS this year!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR PROVIDING VOLUNTEERS FOR THE MAHOMET HELPING HANDS DONATION AND GIVEAWAY SATURDAYS IN JULY! We also appreciate your loyal support during the year through donations of food, money, and other items. The dedication of caring organizations such as yours allows MHH to continue to reach out to those in need in our community. Thank you again. Sincerely, Mahomet Helping Hands.

PLEASE PICK-UP YOUR SECOND QUARTER OFFERING STATEMENT from the basket in the narthex. Thanks.

WALK TO BETHLEHEM: While some of us have been busy with vacation bible school our walkers/swimmers have kept moving toward Bethlehem but are still in the Atlantic Ocean. We are about 665 miles off the coast of the Azores Islands. We will be celebrating our success on Aug 2 with food from Portugal since the Azores are part of Portugal. Keep up the good work and keep swimming.

ATTENDANCE for Sunday, July 19th was 74 and total offering was $2,157.00.
