Lifetree café WEDNESDAY NIGHTAT 6:30 PM: What to do when life seems unfair will be examined at Lifetree Café Wednesday night at 6:30.
The program, titled “Where’s the Justice?” includes a filmed interview with Jasmine Lima-Martin, whose husband, Rene Lima-Martin, served 10 years in prison for a robbery conviction. After rebuilding his life and finding employment, Rene was sent back to prison when it was discovered the court made a mistake regarding the length of his sentence. “He didn’t have any idea this would happen, and neither did I,” says Jasmine. “A sentence of 98 years is essentially life in prison. He’ll never be able to play with our kids again.”

THE GREAT RIVERS WALK FOR WATER IS RAFFLING an afghan to help raise funds for this year’s walk for water.  The cost of the tickets are: 1 ticket for $1.00, or 6 tickets for $5.00.  Thank you to Richey Vanderspool for making the afghan again this year!

THE GREAT RIVERS WALK FOR WATER IS COMING ON JUNE 6TH!  Gather a team together, and/or give a pledge to someone who is walking!  The walk for water will help support Water Missions International, a non-profit organization which brings water treatment plants to areas of the world in need, such as Nepal after the earthquake, and WMI also shares Jesus, the Water of Life, with those who receive the water treatment plants.  We can be a blessing by helping others!

HELP PROVIDE RELIEF FOR VICTIMS OF THE NEPAL EARTHQUAKE: Water Missions International has mobilized response to provide safe water for those in need. In the aftermath of this earthquake, the need for safe water grows more perilous as supplies run short and existing water sources become compromised by debris and unsanitary living conditions. Safe water access will be critical as the people of Nepal begin to rebuild. Would you pray with us for the people of Nepal and other regions affected by this disaster who have been left with nothing? In collaboration with partners, Water Missions is sending water treatment equipment capable of providing up to 75,000 people with safe water. The equipment includes chlorination devices and five Living Water™ Treatment Systems. THE NEXT NORTH AMERICAN LUTHERAN CHURCH CONVOCATION will be held this August in Dallas, TX.  The dates are: Wednesday August 12 through Friday, August 14th.  The theme is a very timely theme: Martyr, Life-giving Witness; and is based on Acts 26:16-18.  Many of our brothers and sisters in the faith are facing martyrdom for the Name of Jesus; this will be a time to hear their witness, to keep them in prayer, and to be strengthened in faith as the world becomes increasingly hostile to the message of Jesus.  This is also the business meeting of the NALC.  We need a voting delegate to attend.  If you would like to attend, or would like more information, please contact Pastor Oman.

WALK AND PRAY ON OUR WALK TO BETHLEHEM – We can begin by praying for our community, especially for those without healthcare, jobs, or friends and family nearby. Then we can branch out to the world community and pray for those where there is devastating disease (Ebola or AIDS), poverty and war. Each week as we walk to Bethlehem we will have verses and prayers that will help us focus our prayers but will really be up to you to determine how God wants you to pray. Watch for more information, sign-up sheets, and our world map to keep track of how we are doing. Remember you can have a team for walking or walk on your own. Exercise, sports, band, biking, etc. can be used for your miles. Ask friends, co-workers and fellow students to be part of your team
