Prayers of the People — May 3, 2015

flames_6618cnpOur gracious Father, we know that you listen to the prayers of your beloved children, and so we are bold to pray on behalf of the Church, the world, and all who are in need.

We praise you, Most Holy God, here in this beautiful sanctuary for all your wondrous deeds and most especially for the resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Let all living things join in with effortless praising of your glory with every breath. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Jesus the perfect sinless Lamb went willingly to the cross, to save us who are too willingly sin. As we rejoice in his resurrection, and in the promises of the resurrection made to all who believe and to all baptized, help us to share the good news of Christ crucified and risen with people far and near, that they may know and find the joy in new beginnings, and renewed hope of eternal life. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We give thanks for those whose gifts brighten worship and lives with music and teaching that nurtures our faith. Help all leaders whose ministry is music to bring glad song from the lips of those who gather for worship. Bless and keep Pastor Oman as he shepherds and leads us not only on Sunday mornings, but all the times he comes to our aid. May we continue to care and support each other in this church family. Help each one of us to reach out to others in kindness. May all who enter this church feel your love and welcoming spirit. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In these latter days, when cultures are rapidly changing, there are many would-be prophets who compete for our attention and would diminish our faith in your teaching and grace. Give us discerning spirits, so we may hear and be led only by your truth. Help us with all humbleness to guide our children, families, and friends along your right pathways, that they not lose their lives or spirits in pursuit of false promises. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Keep the leaders of communities, states, and the nations on the narrow path, that they may not misuse their positions over those whom they govern. Watch over those whose vocation is to watch over our safety, here and abroad. We pray also for all who suffer for their faith. Give all the strength, wisdom, and all that is needed to face trials that may arise. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who are suffering in mind body, or spirit.

Stir up of your healing power within them. Bring new life to those who are depressed or grieving, sick or injured, or suffering in anyway.

Holy God, as you worked in our history so work for our future. Keep us all in the faith and when our earthly lives come to an end, may we all rejoice in your presence forever more. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
