Coping With Loneliness Explored Lifetree Café

Strategies for coping with loneliness will be discussed at Lifetree Café.

The program, titled “Isolated and Alone: Imprisoned in Iran,” includes a filmed interview with Sarah Shourd, who accidentally crossed the Iranian border while hiking and was held in solitary confinement for 410 days.

“Everything about solitary is meant to dehumanize you and turn you against yourself and everyone else,” says Shourd. “As I got worse, the limited time I was allowed with my fellow hikers became my lifeline and gave me the strength to fight against my conditions.”

Participants will consider the consequences of loneliness and how they can avoid experiencing it.

When: 6:30 pm at April 29

Where:  Cafe at New Beginnings
