Prayers of the People — April 19th

dove_9665cOn this third Sunday of Easter, let us join together to humbly petition the Risen Lord, for our needs and the needs of others beginning with silent prayers.

Risen Lord you do wonders for the faithful. Today we are troubled by many things. Set us free those things that trouble us. Protect us from all the distresses that can happen to people in our world, in our nation, in our communities, and in our lives. May our Christian brothers and sisters persecuted for their faith remain strong and feel your presence. Forgive their tormentors and open their eyes to your message of love, not hate. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, where people are looking to see “better times,” bring your presence and your Holy Word. Open the minds of all to understand your Word. Put gladness in their hearts, even in the midst of suffering. Remind us that faith in your name will make us strong. Be with all local, national, and world leaders as they work to bring better times for all they serve. May they too open their hearts and minds to the wisdom you provide. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, forgive our moments of ingratitude, the spiritual blindness that prevents us from appreciating the wonder that is this world, the endless cycle of nature, of life and death and rebirth. Forgive us for taking without giving reaping without sowing. Open our eyes to see, our lips to praise, our hands to share and may our feet tread lightly on the road. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord , you stand among us and say, “Peace to you!” Bring your comforting peace to those whose lives are torn by anxiety and addictions, lack of employment and shelter, abuse and neglect, marital discord and separations. Answer the prayers of those who have asked for our prayers, and the prayers of those who have no one to pray for them. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, you are the promised helper that calls, gathers and enlightens us. Clothe us with power so that we can witness to others and show them the hands and feet of Jesus caring for them. Encourage us to recognize our limitations but strive to exceed expectations in service to you We thank you for New Beginnings and Pastor Oman. We lift up the ministries within our parish, Lifetree Café, Walk for Water, AMPED, Wrapped in Prayer and all those not mentioned. Stir up renewed enthusiasm for the joy of service and fellowship with one another. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, you have shown us what kind of love the Father has given to us. Show that love in the lives of all who suffer from any distress or physical illness. Bless the healing hands that you have called and sent to care for your people. Today we remember especially those who need your healing touch. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, you have gave us eternal life through your death and resurrection. We remember with thanksgiving all those who did not see you as the disciples did and yet believed and were witnesses to us. We seek your comfort from our human grief as we miss those most near and dear to us who now rest in your arms. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, there is real wisdom in the adage; ‘It is always Springtime in the heart that loves God.” Springtime is a season of optimism and hope and the Christian lives a faith centered on hope. Winter, with its cold and dark days has gone just as Good Friday has passed to Easter and beyond. Guide us to live a resurrection life reflected in the new life springing up around us. Thank you, Lord for the hope that you bring, the renewal that you bring both to this world and to our hearts and lives. Amen.
