Prayers of the People — March 8, 2015

prayerLet us pray for the church, the world and all people according to their needs.

Heavenly Father, You alone are worthy of worship. You made the heavens and the earth. You created us in your image. You made a covenant with your people. We thank, praise and glorify you for keeping your covenant with us. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Dearest and most holy God, may our thoughts, speech and deeds honor your holy name. Protect us and keep us from temptations that lead to worshiping false gods and putting our material desires ahead of our devotion to you. Grant us never to tire of worship. Peel away the excuses that keep us from honoring the Sabbath day and keeping it holy. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

One God, holy and immortal, we pray for families. Bless fathers and mothers in their vocation of parenthood. Be present among all who bear the responsibility of raising children. Help children to honor their moms and dads, that their days may be long. Please bless all children. We pray for those who do not have good role models and that lack love and respect. Please put the right people in their paths to give them guidance, encouragement, and wisdom in making wise decisions that will give them a healthier and better future. A future that includes a relationship with Jesus. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Father God, we give thanks to you for life. Be present among all who risk their lives to save the life of another, especially first responders and military personnel. Drive into our hearts the truth that all life from conception to final breath matters and is precious to you. May those that have little to no respect for others lives, turn from their evil ways of thinking. May they find the truth and use their lives to promote peace in the world and especially in their families and communities. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, be present among those whose lives are at stake for bearing witness to the Gospel of Jesus. For churches that are persecuted, keep them faithful in proclaiming Christ crucified. Grant steadfastness of faith to all Christian Churches, Pastors, lay leaders, and all who have a public voice to speak truth-esp. the truth found in the Holy Scriptures. Thank you for the opportunities that are available to each of us here at NB’s. Opportunities to learn, to serve, worship, to pray for each other. May all that enter these doors, feel welcome and experience as the hymn says “the sweet sweet spirit in this place”. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Healing and merciful God, bring healing to all who are hospitalized, those who seek counseling, those who suffer silently from wounds that cannot be seen and those we now name silently or that we now lift to you. We pray too for all who have no one to pray for them.

One God, holy and mighty, holy and immortal, as your Son journeyed to the cross, abide with those for whom death draws near. Hold before their closing eyes the promise that in dying with Christ they shall be raised with him.

Into your hands we commend all who whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
