WELCOME TO NEW BEGINNINGS LUTHERAN CHURCH: We are glad you are worshiping with us today.
COMMUNION: All are welcome to receive the Lord’s Body and Blood who are baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and believe that Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, is truly present in, with and under the forms of bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation.
The center section of each Communion tray has two types of glasses. There are glasses with white grape juice, and also glasses with a lesser amount of wine. Please feel free to take which ever will best meet your needs. The communion bread is gluten-free.
PLEASE STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP: After worship you are invited to join us downstairs for refreshments and fellowship. An elevator is located at the end of the hall.
LIFETREE CAFÉ TONIGHT: Tonight’s program, titled “How the Next Generation Will Change the World: Get Ready for the Millennial Revolution,” includes a film featuring millennials sharing how their values will shape our culture as their power and influence grow.
“This is the generation everyone loves to dump on,” says millennial publishing executive Roxanne Stone. “But millennials are creative and entrepreneurial-and when they see a problem, they want to fix it.
WE WILL “GREEN” THE CHURCH TODAY after worship. Plan to stay and help prepare for the Advent and Christmas seasons. It is a wonderful time of God’s blessings!
MID WEEK ADVENT WORSHIP: The Advent series this year is entitled Comfort and Joy. The Advent services will be Wednesday, December 3, 10, and 17 (Christmas Eve is Wednesday Dec. 24th) at 6:30 p.m. We will gather for worship around the themes of: The Peace of Christ, the Pardon on Christ, and the Presence of Christ. Plan to come and hear what Isaiah prophesies regarding Christ.
ADVENT MEALS will be served directly before the Advent Services. Details to come. Please join us for food & fellowship!
THE ADVENT OFFERING for this year will be given to the Mahomet Ministerial for its activities. Primarily the funds in the Ministerial Alliance are used to help transients who are passing through Mahomet, but who need a meal, or some gas, or lodging for the night. The Mahomet police is the clearing house for all seeking help, those seeking help are given vouchers by the police dept. so that they can receive the help they need and then go on their way.
ADVENT DEVOTIONAL BOOKLET FOR 2014 is now available. This devotional booklet is similar to last year’s edition. It can be used by anyone including: individuals, families, Bible studies or small groups interested in a biblical, devotional journey through Advent. The booklet is titled, “Amen, Come, Lord Jesus!” and is written by Pastor David Wendel, NALC Assistant to the Bishop for Ministry and Ecumenism. It is available free on the NALC website, http://thenalc.org.
CHRISTMAS DINNER BAGS We are collecting non-perishable food items for delivery to help local families have a nice Christmas dinner. These items are canned ham, canned sweet potatoes, canned vegetables and fruit, packaged dessert mix. Please take 1 or 2 tags from the poster in the narthex and return the item to the church before Dec. 10.
PURCHASE GIFTS FOR LOCAL CHILDREN for Helping Hands to distribute. Please return the gifts with the tags attached by December 7th.
DONATIONS OF NEW OR GENTLY USED WINTER WEAR: coats, gloves, hats & scarves are being collected in the box by the coat rack. These items will be donated to an area assistance program.
THE MSHS MADRIGALS WILL BE JOINING US NEXT SUNDAY FOR WORSHIP and will be singing several songs. Come and enjoy their addition to worship.
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT WILL BE DEC. 14TH! Practices will be held before Advent services on Dec. 3rd & 6th and Sunday, Dec. 7th after the service, at 11:15. Meal to follow.
BUNCO IN THE NEW YEAR! Due to other church activities in December, there will be NO BUNCO until 2015. After the first of the year, please plan to return to the fun and fellowship of 2nd Thursday evening BUNCO. Watch the bulletin for reminders. QUARTERLY OFFERING STATEMENTS are available in a basket on the table in the narthex.
ATTENDANCE for Sunday, November 23rd was 102. The undesignated General Fund offering was $1,686.00, and $60.00 was designated to WiP, and $10.00 to Lifetree Café. $200.00 was given to the Building Fund, $40.00 was designated to repairs, and $2,000.00 to the mortgage payment.
