Lord God, Heavenly Father, we stand with you this day before the doorway that leads to Advent. We give thanks that with our world so filled with tension and hatred, You gently lead us with hope and security to the One who brings the promise of protection. Father, stir up our hearts so that we may patiently await the coming of our Lord, your son Jesus. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Indeed, we come in anticipation, Father. Be with us as we travel forth to find Him who comes, not wearing a crown, but rather residing in a manger. With the prophets of old may we hear through them that He comes not as a king but rather as a servant. And
In this season of promised hope, grant to our troubled world the promise of lasting peace. Cure our “warring madness” and allow us to stand fast in Your Word as we continue to await His arrival. Until that time comes, we pray for your protection for those offering up their lives for us at home and overseas so that we may be free to worship you and share your goodness. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Holy Father, in these troublous times within Your church, help us, your children, to submit ourselves to the Truth of Your Word. Keep us grounded in the promise and hope that You are still with us, overseeing everything and gently leading your people to the One who is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Father, bless this place and all those others where your saints gather to hear your word, as we join in worship, praising, thanking, and sharing in your meal. Keep us attentive listeners to Your Word and eager doers of it throughout the week. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
God and Father, as we head into — or perhaps are already into — the season of secular busyness, let us never forget who we are and let us demonstrate with our actions and our faith in your Promise. As we are wronged by others, remind us that we too wrong others, and all are in need of forgiveness. Help us to be kind and to remember that all our brothers and sisters are your children. Teach us how to forgive.
Lord and Shepherd, guide and protect our pastors as they too are faced with a busy time in the church year. Help each of us, support, encourage, and help Pastor Oman and church leaders. May we all work together in making this a wonderful and joyful season.Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lord and Healer, we lift up to you the sick, the dying, the lonely, the fatigued, the weary in spirit, those who have found faith, and those who have lost faith, that you will guide, protect, strengthen, and heal them. Give them spiritual, mental, and physical health, so that they may better serve You with the gifts that you have bestowed. Especially we remember today those we mention aloud or in the silence of our heart. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Dear Lord, your words and promises do not pass away. Help us to be diligent in searching your Word and to be faithful in fulfilling your will in all that we do. May actions be always pleasing to you.
These things and all for which we pray, we ask in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen
