Prayers for November 16, 2014

prayerLet us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.

Lord God, we are trusting your just judgment of evil, but we remember that you have not destined us for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us that we might live with him. Give us courage and guidance in stepping forward and standing in faith when we are faced with untruths and disrespect for you and your word. Stir up faith, hope, and love in your Church, that it may be busy with the work of your Kingdom until that great and terrible day when Jesus will return. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord God, we pray all pastors, church leader, teachers, and all who proclaim your Law and Gospel. Give them boldness to preach your Word, using well the treasure that has been entrusted to them, and grant that your people may hear it and take it to heart. May we here at New Beginnings along with Pastor Oman stand firm in fulfilling the principles for which this church and the North American Lutheran church holds true. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord God, look with favor upon your suffering people, especially those who are persecuted, tortured, and killed for the name of Jesus Christ. Grant them patience and peace in their suffering, boldness to confess your name, and help the whole Church to stand with them in constant prayer. We acknowledge your great power and the power of prayers. May persecutors come to repentance and to faith.  Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord God, grant to our worldly leaders the wisdom to lead with justice. May those who are coming into office be men and woman of integrity and may they truly work for the good of all. Be with the members of our armed forces at home and abroad. Grant that all citizens of our country be noble in purpose and honest in our dealings with one another. We remember all who serve in our armed forces, present, past, and future. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord God, we remember and lift our prayers for all who are suffering in anyway. May they find true peace with your presence and feel the healing touch of your Spirit.

We remember all that have no one to pray for them and for all we lift to you silently in our hearts.

Continue to bless all children and may they live free from hunger, sickness, injury, and abuse. May the adults in each child’s life protect and nurture these children and strive to make this a better world for all. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord God, in the great and terrible day you will deliver your people, may we follow you in faith, cling to the forgiveness offered in your Son, serve you with zeal and gladness, and enter into the joy of our Master and Friend.

Into your hands, Father, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
