Together let us thank and pray to you oh God. You are the first, the last, the only God and for Your holy word we give you thanks. We come before and lift our prayers for all people, everywhere according to their needs.
Lord, may we always strive to be good soil, so that the seed of your Word sown in us may grow in your love and not be overtaken by the weeds of this world: distraction, discouragement, weariness, greed, arrogance and the thirst for power. Keep our eyes on the harvest, and on your promise of eternal life. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for your church, all people of God and especially for your church here at NBs and for Pastor Oman. Raise up leaders in congregations and ministries everywhere who will be faithful to your unchanging Word as they preach, teach and care for your flock. Guide them as they lead us to share the Gospel with others through word, deed and service. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We humbly ask your blessing upon those who will gather this week at the Lutheran CORE and North American Lutheran Church annual convocations and theological conference. May every moment of the discussions, teaching, sharing, worship and fellowship bring glory to your name and further your work here on earth.
In these times of uncertainty here and around the world, guide those entrusted with leadership roles in governments, businesses, organizations and communities everywhere. Especially as we enter the this time of election campaigns, may we seek and support candidates who not only boldly proclaim their faith in you, but who will work to discern and carry out your will for our nation and local communities. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We thank you for people who choose lives of service, especially members of our military, police officers, fire fighters and medical professionals. Be with them and their families as they serve our society, and may we follow their example in using our gifts to serve others. Give peace to all family and friends that have loved ones serving with the assurance that you are with their loved ones. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Loving God, comfort your people who are hurting today: Those who are ill, those in pain, those who are hungry or cold, and those who live in sadness and despair. We also remember all caregivers. Cont. to bless and keep them and give them the wisdom and strength to do what is needed. And for all those we lift to you in our hearts. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for those around the world who are persecuted for their faith. Be with them, protect and comfort them. Remind them every moment of your love and encourage them in hope through your Holy Spirit. Lord, the earth is full of your constant love. Grant peace and hope for those in the Middle East and esp. Israel as unrest seems to be a constant way of life for those living in these areas. We pray also for those children who are displaced due to dangerous conditions in their home lands. Let there be a workable and loving solution to this turn of events. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Pour out your Spirit on those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. We all have those that have touched our lives and are no longer physically with us as we live our lives day to day. Remind us that in you, we have the promise of eternal life, and we thank you for each one who has touched our lives. We look forward to the day when we will all be together and not be parted. Until then, we live with your love and assurance that you never leave us or forsake us.
And now we commend all for whom we pray into your hands, trusting in your constant love and mercy, for the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ. amen
