As we approach this week celebrating independence for our nation, may we join together with prayers of thanksgiving for the freedoms we are offered and the gifts You grant daily. During this moment of silence may we contemplate these blessings and offer up our personal petitions.
Lord and Provider, help us to remain in touch with your will for us through prayer. You know our thoughts before we say them, yet we need to bring our sins, our weaknesses, our requests for others, and all of ourselves before you daily. We thank you for teaching us how to pray, and for listening to our prayers. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
Lord and Provider, we thank you for your Word. You have given us prophets to prepare the way for your Son. Through them you show us the way to true faith in you and true knowledge of your will. We thank you for your Church, especially in areas such as East Africa, the Middle East, North Korea, and China, where the faithful have spread your word despite threats. May these missionaries and pastors remain faithful to your Word and continue to use their gifts to spread your Church over all the world. Help us remember & support them through prayers and gifts. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
Lord and Provider, we know your Word, yet are tempted and fall short of your plan for us. We know that your commandments for us are meant to bring us closer to you and your will for our lives, yet we daily fall into temptation in acts and thoughts, and need the guidance of your Holy Spirit and your patience and gracious forgiveness. We thank you for your justice and forgiveness, and pray that you send your Holy Spirit to lead and strengthen us to do your will. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
Lord and Provider, we know that when Jesus returns we will finally experience your peace. Until that time, watch over our men and women in uniform, those at home and those in harm’s way, that they may know your presence and be a living witness to your love. Bring your presence to the nations and to the leaders, that they may act in wisdom and in accordance to your will. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
Lord and Provider, we pray for all in need, from our neighbors here in this place to the far reaches of the earth. Hear our pleas for those suffering in mind, body and spirit, each of whom we pray now aloud or in the silence of our hearts. May all these people and their families, whatever their needs, feel your presence and comfort. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
Lord and Provider, as you have called your faithful servants to their heavenly home may you provide comfort to those grieving the loss of these individuals in human forms. May these family and friends receive peace and hope as they look towards the promise of reunion, confident in the promise resurrection and eternal life through Jesus. Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.
Lord and Provider, we thank you for all you have given us, far beyond our needs. Guide us in use of these gifts, that they be instruments to praise you and your name. Protect us on our way home as we leave this place and as we go to our work through the week, that our light will shine before others to glorify you. These things and all for which we pray, we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
