Prayers of the People — February 23, 2014

confess_8904cnpLet us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours in this Epiphany Season. You are Holy, and great is the majesty of your glory. You show us your way. Incline our hearts to follow the path that you have set before us. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Father in Heaven, you are full of grace and compassion. Help us to look upon our neighbors with the same grace and compassion you bestow upon us, so we might love them as ourselves. Do not let us judge them or put any stumbling block before them. Empower us to be skilled master builders, laying the foundation for Christ in the lives of all around us. And as You gathered the children in Your arms and called all of us to have faith as a child, trusting in You at all times. We pray that you would continue to surround our children with Your grace and mercy, and that they would continue to grow in faith, hope, and love, growing into mature faith. Grant them what they need for their living of each day, but most of all show them your saving grace.

May we as adults, all be good examples for our children, family, & friends. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, you went the second mile for us. Empower us to go the second mile for others. There are many about us who have unfilled needs: the hungry, the broken, victims of abuse, the unemployed, the underemployed, sad or lonely.

Grant us wisdom and understanding to use your gifts in the service of others and to build up the Body of Christ. As you dwell in us, help and strengthen us with all that we need to minister to others for the common good of all. We pray for our congregation here at New Beginnings and that we can be a church built on truth and service to others. May we love and support each other, our pastor, and all who serve to make this a welcoming place for all who enter here and may we reach out in this community in ways that are pleasing to You. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Blessed Father, we pray for peace wherever there is injustice, hate, war, conflict and dissension. Bring health and wholeness were there are grudges between people, and an end to acts of vengeance and terror. Send your comforting peace to those whose lives are torn by addictions, homelessness, divorce, and separations. We pray for peacekeepers, and all who serve the people in our community, and all the world. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Healing and Sanctifying Spirit, we pray for your work to be done in all who suffer from any illness, pain, uncertainty of their health issues, those faced with concerns with the future of loved ones facing these trails, and for any situation that steals our joy. Bless the healing hands that you have called and sent to care for your people. Thank you for the loving care shown to us from Pastor Oman. Please continue to bless him and Kathy and their family. We lift to you all those who need your healing touch those that we name in these prayers and those we name in our hearts. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, you have brought life and immortality in light in your resurrection from the dead. Thank You Dear Heavenly Father for hearing and answering our prayers. May we never forget that You are always faithful and that whatever happens in our lives You will sustain us. Thank for the blessings you grant us every day and we thank you for the eternal future to come. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

And Into your hands, most merciful Father, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
