Prayer and the election

Thinking about the major election upon us,  reflecting on leadership is important.  Looking up  “leadership” in a Bible reference book that I have and the number of verses it listed regarding leadership is many.   That in itself tells me that God in His Word definitely does not take the subject of leadership lightly.  Let’s remember that as we pray and vote for our leaders this week.

Here’s a sampling of the verses regarding leadership:

Jesus spent a night of prayer before calling his disciples – Luke 6:12 (ESV): “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God.”

Titus 1:7a (ESV): “For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach.”

1 Peter 5:2-5  (ESV):  “shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in our charge, but being examples to the flock.  And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.  Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders.  Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Please pray before the election on November 6th.
